System software vs Application software


Introduction:
Software is the functional component of a computer. It runs, operates and executes all the tasks done within a computer. Software is a set of data, information or instructions which are built in different programming languages for example: C++, C#, JAVA, JAVASCRIFT, PYTHON, SWIFT, KOTLIN etc.

Software is the variable part of a computer.It is of two types.
1)Application Software:
The user downloaded programs that are used to fulfill the needs and demands of a user.
2)System Software:
The operation done on the computer creating interface between the hardware and the application software.

Difference between System software and Application software is given below:

2.System softwares are installed on the computer when operating system is installed.Application softwares are installed according to user’s requirements.
3.In general, the user does not interact with system software because it works in the background.In general, the user interacts with application sofwares.
4.System software can run independently. It provides platform for running application softwares.Application software can’t run independently. They can’t run without the presence of system software.
5.Some examples of system softwares are compiler, assembler, debugger, driver, etc.Some examples of application softwares are word processor, web browser, media player, etc.
 In this modernized world of technology, people are getting more and more depended on technology. Software is soul of all technology. To function any type of machine related to the updated technology software turns out to be the soul. Some basic applications of software in our daily life is given below:

1)Operating System:
 All type of computer and mobile devices are operated by different software.
There are 3 most popular operating system of computers.
A)    WINDOWS
B)    MAC-OS
C)    LINUX
The most popular operating system for mobile devices are:
A)    ANDROID   B) I-OS   C) WINDOWS

Among the computer operating system windows is the most convenient and user friendly. On the other hand, Mac-OS is only applicable for the users of Apple.But Linux is new addition to operating world which can run and facilitate the same in both the Mac and windows devices.In case of mobile operating system Android is the most popular. I-OS is only used for the I-Phone and I-pad of Apple company. And another OS of windows getting extinct rapidly because of difficulty in operating and lack of functioning.

2)Robotics:
Software is used in different industrial and manufacturing works done by robots. No machine or robot can function without the correct set of codes programmed into it. Different types of software used to manipulate and control the work of robots. The world of mechanics and robotics is firmly dependent on the software to manipulate the work of their machineries and robots. For example:
Python, R, Mat-lab are some common codes to the software for running machines and robots. In the array of artificial Intelligence, a new set of software coding is being used called IBM-WATSON and again the most advanced robot SOFIA is programmed with a software to interact to people and interchange conversation.


3)Navigation:
It’s not easy for the random strangers to go to a new place without navigation and GPS. Different type of application software is developed such as google map, Waze etc. Waze is one of the popular navigating application software in Malaysia. Transportation software such as Uber, Grab, Maxim are used to travel in unknown places for the tourist in Bangladesh, USA, UK, Malaysia, Singapore etc. It creates part time job opportunities for the jobless and easy transportation for the tourists.

The impact of software in our digital world is growing rapidly. It is becoming one of the daily needs of human life. Software is prevailing in almost every aspect of our daily activities.Some specialized applications available for academic use is given below:

Computer's Biography

First Computer device:
Charles Babbage, an English mechanical engineer and polymath, introduced the concept of programmable computers. Considered the "father of computers", he conceived and invented the first mechanical computer in the early 19th century. After working on his revolutionary difference engine designed to aid in navigational calculations, he realized that many more simple designs, an analytical engine, were possible.The input of programs and data should have been delivered to the machine via punch cards, a method used to direct mechanical looms, such as jacquard looms. For the output, the machine will have a printer, a curved platter and a bell. The device will also be able to punch numbers on cards for later reading.The engine combines control flow and integrated memory in the form of a mathematical reasoning unit, conditional branches and loops, creating the first design for a general-purpose computer that can be described as touring-complete in modern terms.
The instrument was around a century before his time. All the parts of his machine had to be made by hand - this was a big problem for a device with thousands of parts. Eventually, the project collapsed with the British government's decision to cut funding. The failure to complete the analytical engine can be attributed mainly to the political and financial difficulties as well as the interest in its development.Increasingly sophisticated computers and moving faster than anyone can follow. Nevertheless, his son Henry Babbage completed a simple version of the computing unit (call) of the analytical engine in 18. He successfully demonstrated its use in computing tables in 1906.
Analog device:
In the first half of the twentieth century, many scientific computing requirements were met by increasingly sophisticated analog computers, which used direct mechanical or electrical models of problems as the basis for calculations. However, these were not programmable and modern digital computers generally lacked versatility and precision.The first modern analog computer was a tidal-prediction machine, invented by Sir William Thomson in 18722. Differential analyzer, mechanical analog computer, a mechanical analog computer designed to solve differential equations by integration using the wheel-and-disk method, was converted in 1876 by James Thomson, the more famous Lord Kelvin brother.

Digital Computers:
By 1938, the U.S. Navy had built an electromechanical analog computer small enough to be used on top of a submarine. It was a torpedo data computer, which used trigonometry to solve the problem of throwing torpedoes at moving targets. Similar devices were made in other countries during World War II.Early digital computers were electronics; Electronic switches drive mechanical relays to perform calculations. These devices had low operating speeds and were eventually powered very quickly by all-electronic computers using vacuum tubes. The Z2, built in 1939 by German engineer Conrad Juice, is one of the earliest examples of electromechanical relay computers.
Modern Computers:
The principles of modern computers were proposed by Alan Turing in his 1966 paper, [40] Computer Numbers. Turing proposed a common device which he called the "Universal Computing Machine" and it is now known as the universal Turing machine. He proved that this type of machine is capable of calculating anything by executing the instructions (programs) stored on the tape and making the machine programmable.The basic concept of Turing's design is the stored program, where all the instructions of computing are stored in memory. Von Neumann admits that the central idea of ​​the modern computer came about because of this paper.Turing machines are still a central object in the study of computational theory. Except for the limitations imposed by their finite memory stores, modern computers are called touring-complete, which means that their ability to implement algorithms is equivalent to that of universal touring machines.

Mobile Computers:
The first mobile computers were heavy and powered by mains power. The 50lb was the initial example of the IBM 5100. Later portables like Osborne 1 and Compaq Portable are light enough but still need to be plugged in. The first laptops, such as the Grid Compass, removed this requirement by attaching batteries - and with the continuous minimization of computing resources and the advancement of portable battery life, portable computers gained popularity in the 2000s.The same development allowed manufacturers to integrate computer resources into cellular mobile phones in the early 2000s.

These smartphones and tablets run on a variety of operating systems and have recently become the dominant computing devices on the market [powered by System on a Chip (SC)), which is a complete computer in a coin-sized microchip.

The world of input and output devices

The devices which are implemented to send information in a computer for processing the data is known as the input devices and the devices which are used to process the data from an input device and display or functions in computer screen is known as the output devices.




Data is always input from a user and output is generated by the computer.
An input device can only send data from it to another device and can't receive data from any device.
On the other hand,An output device can't send data to another device but receives the data from an input device and generate its output.Input devices such as-Web cam,Touch screen,Microphone,Scanner,joystick,cameras etc and output devices such as-Printer,Monitor,Speaker,Headphones,MClassification-Data is separated and categorized.




DATA PROCESSING:
Data processing is,by and large,the assemblage and utilization of data for producing meaningful information.
There are various processes involved in data processing,including:
  • Validation-Certifying the data supplied is correct and relevant.
  • Summarization-Minimizing data to the main points.
  • Sorting-Contriving data in sequence of different sets.
  • Aggregation-Collaborating more than one piece of data.
  • Analysis-Examination and presentation of data.
  • Reporting-Detailed lists,data summarized and information computed.
  • Classification-Data is separated and categorized.

Rainfall Forecast of Malaysia

Malaysia is a country of diverse weather.Almost every single day it rains in malaysia.The temperature is constant.Its a tropical region and most of the time the temperature is about 25 to 30 degree celcius.Weather forecast is a scientific and predictive way to find put the future weather of a particular region.


Rainfall predictions are very much important in production of food,management of recourses and all other natural activities.Machine learning techniques are used most of the time for weather forecasting.Algorithm,Naive bayes,support vector machine,neural network etc.


In korea,china,singapore and many other countries,rainfall prediction has significant influence over all the natural activities.Malaysia is not far behind.Its enhancing the rainfall predictions through classification techniques .

My Campus , My Home





UTM,Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is among top 100 engineering universities in the world and 217 in QS world ranking.It stands on 1148 hectares and repose about 40 thousand students.It chalked up with 18 UTM sub discipline-based faculties linked up into 7 boardbased faculties.It bestow students with world class facilities including central mosque,medical,library,food court,laboratory,gym,stadium,swimming pool.

Upon leaving my native land this campus has became my second home.Malaysia is a country of peace.My first day at UTM is still in my memory lane.

I was excited and sad at the same time because I didn't lived even a single day without my family.We went to the airport and almost everyone who knows me came with tons of best wishes for me.After some last goodbye's,I went to the immigration and waited patiently.When the flight arrived I felt a shivering out of excitement and started my journey.

After my arrival at KLIA-1 , I met some new students like me and eventually became friends on the bus to UTM.When I entered the campus,I felt like I am in a dreamland.The natural beauty and the calm weather made my day even more memorable.
I booked a room in Scholars Inn hotel inside UTM campus and checked in there.Next I went to UTM international to register.


 It was a hustling day.After registration I went for my medical check up in Pusat Kesihatan.Its a hospital situated inside the campus .
Entrusting to all my medical supervisions, I was permitted to have a hostel room with one of my friend.We booked a double sharing room and shifted our stuffs from the hotel.It was so comfortable living with all Bangladeshi and foreigner friends including senior brothers.It felt like a home.


Here it begins my UTM life
All seniors brothers and my alluring friends were so much benevolent.Making new buddies were one of the hectic task so far.
                 

                          All seniors esteemed us with a welcoming BBQ party at Balai serah.

A friendly cricket tournament was arranged by some of our seniors. I was one of the lucky one who got an opportunity to show my extra curricular activities through cricket. We conquered the runner-up trophy.



All in all it was a great time in UTM till now and hope to gather more memories throughout the rest 4 years.UTM is a dream that came true and I am really blessed to be in UTM.Its like a magical cave of mystery,the more you dive into its beauty the more you get amazed.
